In spring, the forest shows its special side: mushrooms emerge from among the fallen leaves, fragrant herbs accompany us on our journey, and nature hides new wonders at every step. During the day, participants can learn about the rich wildlife of the forest, medicinal herbs and wild plants, as well as the basics of mushroom identification and collection.
The tour guides conduct the program in two languages, Hungarian and English.

The tour is led by Anna Werlein, biologist and mushroom inspector. Anna introduces the mushrooms and medicinal plants of the area, explaining how to identify and collect them, as well as their traditional and modern uses. Participants can safely try their hand at mushroom picking under professional guidance, while learning about the surrounding ecosystem.

Topics covered during the tour:

  • the rich wildlife and natural resources of the forest
  • learning about medicinal herbs and wild plants
  • introduction to mushrooms and hands-on mushroom picking

At the end of the tour, participants will enjoy a hearty lunch made from local ingredients at the Faluvégi Bistro, and they can take home the edible mushrooms they have collected.

After lunch, the program will be led by Bettina Heincz, a landscape architect and basket weaver from Kóspallag. Bettina has been making baskets for the Nagymaros Market and teaching basket weaving courses for nine years. Participants can try their hand at the basics of basket weaving, making simple baskets from natural materials, while learning about the history of the landscape and local culture. This creative, artisanal activity provides an opportunity to slow down, concentrate, and experience a direct connection with natural materials.

Program fee:

28 000 HUF / person (VAT included)

Who is it recommended for?

This themed day is ideal for nature lovers, families, those interested in medicinal herbs and mushrooms, and anyone who wants to actively experience local nature while enjoying a craft experience.

The program will be conducted in English and Hungarian.

Recommended accommodations in Kóspallag are available on the local government’s website: https://kospallag.hu/szallas-vendeglatas/. We also recommend the boutique rooms at NaturaHill Zebegény in Zebegény.

The program was created as a result of a regenerative tourism pilot project carried out by the Municipality of Kóspallag and BURST Nonprofit Kft. as part of the People Powered Tourism project. The aim of the project is to offer experience-based programs that build on local natural and cultural values and provide visitors with direct experience, active participation, and a sustainable approach.

Due to the length, difficulty, elevation gain, and duration of the tour, it is not recommended for children under the age of 5 and requires good physical fitness.

Guests with disabilities, reduced mobility, or special needs are welcome to inquire about the difficulty of the tour and whether they can complete it by emailing info@humtour.com for detailed information.

The deadline for payment of the participation fee is upon registration.

Your registration will be considered final once the participation fee has been received. Available places will be filled in the order in which payments are received.
